My name is Tanya Paget and when I’m asked what I do, I sometimes I say ‘I facilitate change’, and sometimes I paraphrase a coachee of mine and say, “I help people get shit done”.
I work across a number of areas helping people with change in their life, career and business worlds. It is rare that life and work sit neatly in tidy clean boxes. I work holistically and don’t approach the coaching relationship in a compartmental way.
I ask that we set up a focus and work together on achievable goals. Over time the focus and goals may evolve. Without a focus it is hard to make the progress and frankly have a clue what we are doing other than having a nice chat! I’m genuine and pragmatic, I’m thoughtful, but not woowoo. I will work to keep you accountable to your goals. I’ll do this with warmth, compassion, understanding and a little humor! I’m told I’m pretty good at the tough love thing.
The thing that connects the dots between my diverse clients is that I work with people who deeply care and want to make positive change in their sector. I work with people who are often feeling frustrated and that there has to be another way… seeking positive change, feeling that there is more to their story.
I have 25 years of career experience working in both the Creative Industries and Education. Which means I have worked in and with both very small, fast-moving, independent, entrepreneurial businesses as well as very large, slow-moving, highly regulated and structured public sector organisations.
I have worked in small teams, as part of less conventional collective leadership groups and in more conventional hierarchical structures with responsibility for teams of up to 25 reports. I have thousands of hours of coaching, teaching and training experience – from working with disengaged young adults, early career and training teachers and teams of colleagues including management and leadership teams (also sometimes disengaged!). To read a little more of my story check my website’s about page.
I often work with people who work in the Creative Industries, as this is a sector I have lots of personal experience in. I also work with lots of entrepreneurs having set up and run a number of businesses myself - I really ‘get’ the crazy juggling act of setting up and running and indie business! I also work with leaders who are trying to do things a little differently, which plays to my experience working on senior leadership teams for a number of years. I like to think of my leadership clients as high flying rebel leaders - trying to create positive change in their organisations, I’ve been there and want to help! I work with my leadership clients both as part of my private coaching practice and also with a collective group of leadership coaches, facilitators and trainers that I co-founded called Positive Change Agents (www.thepositivechangeagents.com) - so if you are looking for a wider organisational intervention this is a resource I can offer.
I also work with people who identify as being neuro-diverse but high functioning. I’m dyslexic and am part of the neuro-diverse community. I regularly work with clients who are Dyslexic and/or ADHD and I’ve worked with some high functioning autistic clients. I bring empathy and personal understanding to the extra challenges and the super-powers being neuro-diverse bring! And a non-linear pin-ball conversation doesn’t scare me, I know we’ll get to the right result in the end.
I coach online and in person - if we can make it work I love walking coaching!
